2018 – You’ve come a long way baby
Ahhh… 2018! Looking back, you've been a pretty monumental year!
It started with James and I selling our house in Shrewsbury and moving deep into the Welsh countryside. We’ve had a couple of intense, grief-filled, years and when the opportunity arose to have a complete change of scenery, and pace, we grabbed it.
It's been a year filled with lots of lovely local weddings and a few mini adventures to capture weddings in Yorkshire, Oxfordshire and Holland. I was also lucky enough to shoot a first look and I'm sold! It was the most touching moment to witness and something I genuinely feel more couples should consider.
There has also been yet another heartbreaking reminder of just how important wedding days can be. Of how we need to look past all of the industry expectations, and ornamentation, and focus on the people that surround us. The more weddings I go to, the more I fall in love with the tribal essence of them, how they fulfil that very basic human need of communing, the shared laughter and the tears, the heartfelt speeches and the sheer, joyous, celebration of love... not to mention the dancing!
Along with the move, I also cut the number of wedding and photo booth bookings back from 50+ to a far more manageable 25. Something which has given me more time for my couples and even a few weekends free. This shift means that I’ll only be taking three more bookings for 2019, and 11 more for 2020, so if you’re considering booking me please give me a holla!
And finally…
I grew a baby!
Having spent most of 2017 coping with failed fertility treatments, and coming to terms with the fact that we might not be able to have children of our own, 2018 has seemed like the most precious, wonderous, magical year.
I want to wholeheartedly thank all of my couples for being generally awesome. To thank Laura, Jemma, and my superhero husband James for second shooting with me (and reminding me to stay hydrated/eat/ sit down for a minute), and to thank Dani for swooping in to save the day when life was at it's cruellest.
I am so incredibly thankful to each and every one of you beautiful humans for making 2018 such a joy.
Baby Preece is due any day now which means I'll be back with more wedding posts in the Spring... I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store!
So here is the year that was 2018 and a selection of photos that speak to my heart...
Peace and love!
