Morris Wedding in the Shropshire Hills
Poppy & Dave's Shropshire Wedding
Some love stories kicked off in fancy coffee shops, others with a quick swipe right. But for Poppy and Dave? Their tale started with something way more vibrant and quintessentially British: Morris dancing!
Their paths first properly crossed back in 2018. Poppy's Morris team was hosting a guest team, Earlsdon Morris, for their annual Midsummer bash. As fate would have it, Dave ended up staying with Poppy and her folks. That first meeting was quick, but the folk scene had other plans. They reconnected at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival later that summer and started dating. This meant a whole lot of driving between Stratford-upon-Avon and Bishop's Castle, but as Poppy said, it was 110% worth every single mile. You could totally see why.
Forget the typical wedding spots; Poppy and Dave chose somewhere truly, profoundly personal for their big day: the incredible land that's part of Poppy's family home. This beautiful, cherished place had been hers since birth, literally growing up alongside the trees that would become the woods her parents planted over 30 years ago. It was the only spot that felt right for their ceremony. The property was named after Poppy's brother, Alex, who sadly died six years ago and rested peacefully at the top of the orchard, making it an even more sacred space. Dave also spent nine months of lockdown here, immersing himself in the rhythm of the land – caring for chickens, baking pizzas, and running in the hills. For them, this wasn't just a venue; it was a living, breathing part of their love story, packed with shared moments and profound meaning for them both. It was exactly the kind of authentic setting perfect for Shropshire Wedding Photography that set my heart a-flutter.
For Poppy and Dave, the absolute most important part of their wedding day was spending genuine, quality time with all their amazing friends and family, all in one place, and just having an absolute blast.
And as if their journey wasn't sweet enough, their wedding day was also the perfect chance for everyone to meet the newest, most adorable little star of the show: their baby girl, Bonnie.
